CRU works to understand our organization – what we do, where we’re going, and what our budget is to help get there." - JB Blackwelder, Chief Financial Officer, VSI Global
JB Blackwelder, the CFO of VSI Global, uses sports analogies to describe business situations. So it was when he explained how CRU Solutions meets VSI Global’s IT needs.
“The system and style of Ohio State to win in football can’t be the same as a smaller school, though they can both win,” JB says. “Similarly, every business has to adjust its strategy to the people and skills it has to be successful.”
Smaller businesses can’t approach their IT the same way as Fortune 500 companies. While there are similar concerns, the priorities, budgets, and people are different. This is where CRU Solutions comes in.
“CRU matches our IT strategy to the size of our business, the skills of our people, and our budget,” JB notes. “We’re growing so we need reliable service that’s scalable.”
VSI Global has been a CRU client since 2002. It was acquired in 2015, and has been in a growth phase since. The company benefits from CRU managed IT services including backup-as-a-service and enhanced security to help mitigate their IT risks.
“I’m a CFO, not an IT guy,” JB says. “CRU techs are able to address issues in a way I can understand and in a time frame that works for me. They err on the side of overcommunicating, but I always have a clear picture of what they’re doing for us. They use plain English instead of tech-speak.”
“Jim Kerr thinks like a business person,” JB continues. “He wants to understand our organization – what we do, where we’re going, and what our budget is to help get there. He offers us options ranging from “best practices” to the “next best alternatives” so we can choose what’s best.”
